How do I apply to film?
Please complete an application form to apply for a filming permit. If you have any queries, please contact Bolton Film Office.
How long does it take to receive a permit?
This will depend on the scale and ambition of your request, however our small team will endeavour to turn your application around as quickly as possible. For small scale low-impact applications we can review this in a few days; please allow much longer lead times for large high-impact requests.
Please note, if your request involves a road closure, this will require 12 weeks notice, and parking dispensations/suspensions require at least 48 hours notice.
How much does it cost?
Please contact Bolton Film Office to discuss street filming rates and for specific locations.
Are there historical archives I can use for my production?
The Bolton Library and Museum has vast archives which are available for research purposes. To access the archives please contact the museum directly.
Any historical archive footage is kept at the North West Film Archive.
Do you offer work experience?
Yes, on occasion we can offer work experience to help out with the behind-the-scenes of the Film Office. Our aim is to provide a meaningful experience where the individual can gain valuable skills and get an insight to what happens when there is filming in Bolton.
Those interested in work experience must apply officially via the Work Experience portal on the Bolton Council website.
